CHILDREN OF ELIZABETH MC CRUDDEN AND GEORGE MULRANEY

The children are Katherine Theresa born Feb 1879, Helen (Nellie) born, Sep 1881, Ann born March 1882, Mary born November 1883, James Edward born October 4, 1886, and Elizabeth (Bessie) born March 1888.  They were all born in San Francisco, California.

The first born daughter, Katherine Theresa, is mentioned in the first census I have found of the family in California in 1880.  I have wondered why after they married in 1877 in New York City they left and travelled all the way to California.  The Gold Rush was over by this time and the transportation wasn’t easy.  I will research this some more.

I haven’t been able to find too much on Katherine.  I found her obituary in the San Francisco Chronicle Newspaper from www.genealogybanks.com web site.  I also found her mentioned in the obituary of her sister Annie as the late Katherine Powers in 1941.

As you can see this obituary has a lot of information to confirm the family relationships.  It mentions her sisters and brother and also an aunt.

I haven’t found the marriage record for Katherine and John Powers yet.  I did find a marriage record for Katherine with a John D. Harloe and I am wondering if they misspelled the last name Harloe to Powers or she married John Powers later after a divorce or the death of John Harloe.  I am thinking it is the latter because Katherine is mentioned as Powers in two separate obituaries one in 1938 and one in 1941.
