THOMAS F. MATHEWS #32 52 ANCESTORS IN 52 WEEKS

THOMAS MATHEWS was my Father's oldest brother.  He was born in Manhattan on October 16, 1909 to William and Mamie (McGuigan) Mathews.

I have found him in the 1910, 1920, 1925, 1930 and 1940 census records living with his parents.  Staring with the 1930 census his occupation is a pipe coverer, he would put an asbestos covering over pipes.

In 1942 he enlisted in the Army and went to Yaphank, Long Island for his basic training.  His enlistment application lists his rank as Warrant Officer.  I don't know where he was stationed during the war.  There aren't any pictures of him with his brothers when they were in the service so I think he was over seas while his brothers were stateside during the war.
